Hubby and I are attending Annual Conference for the United Methodist Church as delegates for our district this week. It is truly an honor to serve and we are looking forward to being a part of the church on a larger level. I am also a nominee to attend General Conference next year, which is the body that meets every 4 years to vote on policy and doctrine that may change. Please pray for our Conference this week and pray for elections, as we set out to determine what the future of our church should look like.
One of the things I feel very passionately about is that our church and our faith remain relevant for today's generation. We need to hold strong to our core values and stand firm on those truths we know are right, yet we must also be open minded in how we "do church." We must embrace technology and use it as a tool to reach others, to show them the love of Christ. This is one of the reasons I blog...to share what Christ is doing in my life and how I am growing, how my family is growing because of His great mercy and love. We can reach so many more people with blogs, facebook, websites, twitter.
I appreciate your prayers and can't wait to tell you about the amazing ways God is going to work and move this week. Stay tuned!!

My Bible
I love my i-phone. Hubby bought it for me this summer and I love all of the information that is at my fingertips any time I want it. I can check email, facebook, the news, get directions...Technology is a wonderful thing. One of my favorite apps is a Bible that I have put on my phone. It really comes in handy if I need to look up a verse and I don't have my Bible nearby. On Sunday mornings I can follow along with Pastor on my phone and then I can take notes right there on my phone and flag the scripture that goes with it. I love that it is all right there at my fingertips and I don't have scraps of paper to try to file, or papers hanging out of my Bible with little scribbles of ideas but don't know what to do with them. But this morning, I pulled out my actual Bible. The first Christmas after we were married Hubby gave me a navy blue leatherbound Bible with my name stamped on the front. As I open the pages, I see notes I have scribbled on its pages, bent corners, an inscription Hubby wrote when he gave it to me...all of these are precious to me. I love the feel of my Bible. It has seen me through a lot of hard times and has been a constant in my life as I grow in Christ. I love to read the notes and think of what I was learning at this time or another. I love the feel of the pages, the crinkle sound they make as I turn to another page. There's just something familiar and comforting about my Bible. Technology is constantly changing and it makes our lives easier and more efficient but some things never change. While it is convenient for me to use my iphone to organize thoughts and notes, that phone will never replace my Bible. As I sat this morning in prayer, I had my Bible on my lap and I thanked God for this special, living book that carries His words to me each and every day.

I'm Back
I have been a bad blogger. It's been over a week since my last post and I apologize to the two whole people who read this. Honestly, every time I sit down to write, my mind feels too tired to even think of what to write. My brain just needed a little bit of a vacation. But now I'm back.
This afternoon I did my absolute least favorite thing in the whole world. I went to the dentist. Let me tell you, I would rather go to the gynecologist than go to the dentist. That's how much I hate going. And guess what...did you guess? I will be going back to my least favorite place in just a few weeks. That's right people...I have to have fillings. Oh, how I hate going to the dentist and it isn't like I don't take care of my teeth. I blame my mother (sorry Mom, but I do). Why is it my mother's fault that I don't have good teeth? Because she doesn't like milk. I think she didn't get enough calcium when I was in her tummy and now my teeth aren't good. I have no scientific proof of this, but it sounds good to me. So please pray for me that I can survive the next visit to the dentist, which will come way too soon for me.
My little princess played awesome ball tonight. That is not just a prejudiced mother talking to you, OK, maybe it is. But let me say that she is pretty good for a beginner. She got to play catcher, just like her Grandaddy and she got 2 hits. Prince is still a little afraid of the ball after that first practice when it hit him in the nose and he bled. He's got spunk, though and his coaches have been wonderful working with him and encouraging him. It will be neat to see how much both of them improve this season.
In other news, Hubby bought me an i-phone this weekend. I am so excited to be in the modern world now. I still don't text, but I am moving up in the world. Holla, Hubby! Thanks for the new phone. I promise not to wash this phone in the laundry as I may or may not have done to other phones in the past.
That's all for tonight. I've gotta go floss.
